Vanessa was born in Columbus, Ohio, and has spent most of her life there. She served in the Army National Guard in Ohio and Indiana for 13 years.
Applying the phrase “Empowered Women Empower Other Women” is life changing.
The next generation of female entrepreneurs may find inspiration in the experiences of phenomenally successful female entrepreneurs like Vanessa, which may help them thrive in the competitive corporate environment.
Through entrepreneurship, which is a valuable tool for women’s empowerment, women may find employment and achieve financial independence.
Vanessa is the Founder and Board President of Queen Nefertiti Productions Inc, which produces beauty pageants. She also serves as the director of the Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant, a licensed state preliminary for Miss Black USA, the premier pageant for women of color.
Originally headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and currently based in Columbus, Ohio, Queen Nefertiti Productions Inc (previously known as Queen Nefertiti Productions LLC) started out as a company that produced events, including beauty pageants.
It has organized fashion shows, hair show contests, and fundraising events for both its own and other causes.
With EIN 88-2674102, it is currently a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization that hosts pageant events and grants scholarships to the winners.
Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant, Miss Black Ohio USA Talented Teen Pageant, Ms. Black Ohio USA Pageant, Hope Journey USA & Canada Pageants, Ubuntu Pageants International, and the Ohio American Royal Miss Pageant are among the pageants it now produces.
Vanessa is managing several businesses in addition to Queen Nefertiti Productions Inc. Serving as an Independent Safety Educator with Damsel in Defense, and her position as Brand Partner with Style Dots Jewelry further demonstrates her entrepreneurial acumen.
Vanessa has also made a name for herself in the literary world. She is the #1 Best Selling Author. She has written and co-written a few novels.
Vanessa’s journey to becoming a well-known entrepreneur is truly inspiring. Every successful person has a painful story, every painful story has a successful ending.
Vanessa exemplifies this brilliantly. She worked extremely hard and overcame many challenges to become the lady she is today.
She still finds time to volunteer and has been a member of the Junior League of Columbus since 2020. She recently became a volunteer with the Columbus Association of the Performing Arts (CAPA).
“I encountered many challenges, but I remained steadfast. I am a survivor of domestic violence.
My abuser had assaulted me several times. He attempted to choke me, ripped out handfuls of my hair, kicked me, spit on me, dragged me, and scratched the area around my neck. Luckily, my injuries were never severe because I always fought back,” she stated during an interview.
Vanessa’s accomplishments are too many to list here. She has been recognized in several editions of “Who’s Who in Black Columbus” because of her entrepreneurial abilities and community service through pageantry.
Former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and former Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman honored her for her community service through pageantry.
In the field of performing arts, she was the first person to receive the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s “Jewel Award” from the Alpha Rho Lambda Chapter.
Vanessa’s strong educational background has contributed much to her outstanding professional accomplishments.
She graduated from Columbus Business University in 1983 with an associate degree in Business Management and Oakland City University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management.
Not only is female entrepreneurship essential for women to become more independent and economically empowered, but it may also contribute to the overall global economic development.
According to Serena Williams’ well known statement, “The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another,” Vanessa King’s amazing success as an entrepreneur may encourage the next generation of women to pursue entrepreneurship.
