Infinite Tician: How a Young Educator is Revolutionizing Mathematics in South Africa

At just 26 years old, Katlego Mahloko is changing the face of Mathematics education in South Africa. Raised in Alexandra township, Katlego’s journey from struggling learner to Mathematics author is a story of perseverance, purpose, and passion.

“I found Mathematics intimidating,” she recalls. “I was memorising, not understanding.” But instead of walking away, she leaned in — studying a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and dedicating herself to helping other learners overcome the same challenges.

That vision led to the creation of Infinite Tician — a two-volume Grade 10 Mathematics study guide series designed to make Maths more accessible, relatable, and learner-friendly.

What is Infinite Tician?

Infinite Tician is more than a study guide — it’s a substitute teacher for learners who need extra support.

Currently available for Grade 10, the guides are:

Volume 1: Focused on Paper 1 content

Volume 2: Covering Paper 2

Each book, priced at R400, offers:

  • Step-by-step solutions
  • Clear explanations
  • Practice activities and worked examples
  • A layout that boosts confidence and understanding

A Vision Beyond Grade 1

While the current focus is on Grade 10, Katlego’s long-term goal is to develop guides for Grades 7–12, giving all learners the tools to succeed in Mathematics — no matter their background.

“Maths is not the enemy,” she says. “It’s a tool. It’s a language. And with the right approach, anyone can master it.”

And at the heart of it is Katlego Mahloko — a young visionary on a mission to revolutionise Mathematics, one learner at a time.
