I was born in Soweto at Baragwanath
hospital, grew up playing soccer and
this was the sport well favored & known in my community, but later developed the love & passion for Boxing after seeing my older brothers who ended up at an amateur level,
but had a longing to become a professional boxer.
When some coaches saw my potential, they
introduced me to professional boxing & my dream was realized on the 07 Oct 2015, on my first professional boxing debut.
As you may or may not be aware professional boxing in South Africa can be traced to the second half of the 19th century when miners, brokers, speculators, and financier were lured to the diamond and goldfields.
Between 1927 and 2001, 35 South African fighters won a total of 49 world boxing titles, the numbers peaked in the 1990’s- which is the time I was born. From 2009 -2015 I had 58 fights in amateurs, winning few titles, where I also represented the South African
national boxing team in the African
National Championships.
On the 21st June 2025, Jeffrey “911” Magagane will be contesting with Lindokuhle Khuzwayo on the title contenders exhibition fights, at “The Galleria and Conference Sandton”.
