Color therapy, sometimes referred to as Chromotherapy, is a type of therapy used to treat a variety of physical and mental health issues. Stress, depression, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), boosting the immune system, high blood pressure, sleep difficulties, anxiety, certain malignancies, and skin infections are just a few of the ailments for which it is said to be beneficial.
Gabrielle was born in Ottawa, Canada in the 1960s as the middle child among three. Her father’s work took them to Vienna, Geneva, and Mexico City. She resided in Mexico from the age of 9 to 13, which shaped her sunny nature and early love of color.
After completing high school at St. Ursula in Vienna, she studied international business at the Business University of Vienna and started working for Austrian Airlines. In 1986, she began her career in the color/light industry and worked as one of Austria’s first color consultants. Since then, she has been leading the charge to raise awareness of this subject both nationally and internationally.
In 2020, she founded the Color Lights World Project, an organization of global professionals that uses Zoom lectures and social media campaigns to raise awareness and educate people about color and light. From May 2018 until September 2020, she served as the International Light Association’s president.
Gabrielle’s journey to becoming one of the world’s most inspirational Holistic Color Consultants and Color Light Therapists is really motivating. Success comes to those who embrace challenges. Gabrielle is a great example of this. She had to overcome several obstacles, such as financial ones, in order to pursue her ambition of studying color and light therapy in England. Being self employed in a new field, she occasionally had severe financial difficulties. She experienced discrimination based on her gender as well, yet she persisted in becoming the lady she is today.
Gabrielle’s accomplishments set her apart from others in her industry. Gabrielle is fluent in German, French, and English, and quite good in Spanish, and Italian. She has given talks and workshops at conferences in Switzerland, the UK, Belgium, Norway, Austria, Croatia, and Japan.
Gabrielle’s accomplishments are just too many to list here. The Italian Ministry of Education awarded her two honorary titles in 2023: Master of Science honoris causa for Color Research and Professor honoris causa.

Additionally, she co-wrote two books: Der Kodex der Farben, by Ibera Publisher released in May 2024, and 20 bewährte Naturheilverfahren (20 proved natural healing procedures), published in 1997 by Milena Publishers.
The field of color therapy may offer plenty of jobs for women in male-dominated societies where it might be challenging for them to get employment. Professionals with high levels of expertise, such as Gabrielle, could be better suited to mentor the next wave of female professionals interested in color therapy. Here are some of her professional success tips, which might assist the next wave of female holistic color/light consultants, practitioners, and business owners in flourishing in their professions:
It is important to be passionate about what you do and to have a dream or a vision. Perseverance is needed. Learn to be resilient.
It is helpful to get to know yourself as best you can. Create a business plan and accept advice from experts in diverse fields.
If you want something – go for it! Sometimes it takes days, weeks, months, or even years in business or in life to realize the fruits of your hard work and perseverance. The only certainty is that all will be lost if you give up or stop.
